From the Desk of Daryl Boffman (D)
Candidate  for County Executive

(1/2022) Frederick County is preparing to elect its next County Executive on November 2. Frederick County voters will have an opportunity to elect a competent servant leader of character, boldness and tenacity with experience in developing a vision and through strong communication and people skills has a proven record of exceptional results. My name is Daryl Boffman and I am running to be your next County Executive because I care deeply about our community and have a vision for our being One Frederick, united in pursuit of prosperity for all.

This is not a slogan, but a vision that when supported with intentionality can create impactful cultural change and advancement to better position Frederick County to thrive in the 21st century.

Why should the voters of Frederick County vote for me? I offer the following important qualifications to consider.

  • An experienced executive leader – The County Executive serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and manages seventeen divisions of government. I have over 25 years of executive level experience and over 40 years as a manager/leader. At the age of 19, I was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Captain. I have attained the position of Vice President for two technology companies before starting Acela Technologies (Acela), Inc. in 2002 for which I served as President and CEO for 15 years. During that time, I was awarded Executive of the Year in Frederick County and a Maryland Business Gazette’s "Top 25 CEOs you need to know" while Acela received top local, state and regional awards.

  • A community servant – The County Executive’s role offers a grand opportunity to serve the community at the highest level. My desire to serve Frederick County is based on my love for the community and is supported through many years of service to the Frederick community. I have proudly served on the Frederick County Board of Education from 2000 to 2010. I have also served on Boards for Heartly House, Eliminating Achievement Gaps, UNESCO Center for Peace and the Frederick Chamber of Commerce. I have served as a Board of Associates member for Hood College and am currently serving on the Board of Frederick Health Hospital. In addition to board service, I have used my talents and financial treasures to create smiles and serve the needs of many Frederick County residents.

  • A unifier – We are living in some of the most challenging times of our lives as we face unprecedented division and divisiveness. Our nation, state and local communities are under siege with many leaders more concerned with finding ways to divide us during a time when we need to be unified. We are divided over masking versus unmasking; pro-vaccine versus anti-vaccine; Black Lives Matter versus Blue Lives Matter; Pro-Immigration versus anti- immigration; Pro-Life versus Pro Choice; Nationalist s versus Conservatives; Liberals versus Progressives and many other areas. I am a leader who listens to all sides of an issue, respects the person expressing a difference of opinion and attempts to understand the basis for the differences as we attempt to work together toward common grounds, when possible. It is my vision to lead Frederick County in showing others how a community, all in unity can work together to ensure opportunity for prosperity for our residents today and into the future. Community/Unity/Prosperity.
