Battle at Marsh Creek Reenactment Planned at Boyds Bear Country in Gettysburg

(7/7/2005) This July 23 and 24, Boyds Bear Country will host the first Battle at Marsh Creek on their 130-acre site. The Battle will begin each day at 1:30 pm and end at 3 pm. Boyds Bear Country is located at 75 Cunningham Road, just off Emmitsburg Road/Business Rte. 15. Additional information is available by calling Boyds Bear Country at 866-367-8338.

The special reenactment weekend is planned to honor the men who fought for the future of a united nation in the historic Battle of Gettysburg and the entire American Civil War. The weekend will also highlight the efforts and experiences of the civilians during the war. Infantry and artillery living historians will be on hand for both days providing firing demonstrations, battles and skirmishes. In addition, reenactors will set camp. Allowing spectators to learn about the lives of Civil War soldiers through direct interaction.

During the Battle at Marsh Creek, visitors will also be presented with a dress parade. Medical and civilian displays will be set up for visitors to view. Saturday evening, a Civil War Ball is planned at Boyds Bear Country from 7 to 9 pm. Sunday at 10:00 am guests can attend a period Church Service provided by Chaplain Renee.

Boyds Bear Country is currently open seven days a week from 10 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday and 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday.
