Digital Photography Adds
Additional Class in Stained Glass

(1/5) Due to the popularity of its Introduction to Digital Photography class, the Adams County Arts Council’s arts-learning center, the Imagination Station, will open a second section of the class to accommodate the large number of area residents interested in enrolling.

The second class will meet on Thursday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., February 7 through 28 in the Imagination Station classroom, located at 18 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, across from the Majestic Theater.

"The objective of this course is to understand at a basic level digital photography from the camera to printing," says instructor and Gettysburg-area photographer Bert Danielson. "We’re going to learn some basic principles of good photography. We’ll talk about how to work the camera. We’ll talk about loading the pictures onto your computer and manipulating the pictures. And we’ll talk about printing the photographs."

In March, Danielson will be teaching "Digital Photography: Step Beyond the Basics" for those who want to improve their photographic techniques, both in the camera and on the computer This class will introduce correction and enhancement techniques and is designed for those comfortable with the digital camera who want to improve the quality of their images. This class will be held on Monday afternoons from 4-6 p.m., March 3-24.

Stained Glass Classes

Gettysburg stained-glass artist Tim Flagg is teaching three classes during the coming months. In January, Flagg will teach Copper Foil 3D Flowers, teaching students how to create a three-dimensional flower votive out of stained glass. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings from January 22 through February 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. and is designed for those with some experience in working with stained glass.

In February, Flagg will teach an introductory class in which beginners can learn to create a geometric panel out of stained glass. Students will design a pattern, select glass, and cut, lead, solder, and putty their piece into a panel. This class will meet on Monday evenings, February 4 through March 3, from 6-9 p.m.

In April, Flagg will teach an introductory class in which students create a panel featuring curved shapes. This class will also meet on Monday evenings, April 7 through 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.

All three classes will meet in Flagg’s studio at 34 East Lincoln Avenue in Gettysburg. Enrollment is limited, so interested students should sign up as soon as possible.
