Deadline for entries approaches for Arts Council's Annual Juried Exhibition

(3/26) The Adams County Arts Council will accept entries through April 17 for its Sixth Annual Juried Art Exhibition, set for June 19 - July 11, 2009, at Schmucker Art Gallery, Gettysburg College. The exhibition will be an official event of the Gettysburg Festival, a 10-day showcase of traditional and modern talent in 100 events celebrating American creativity in music, theater, visual art, film, dance, culinary arts and children's programming.

Juror for the exhibition is Dr. J. Susan Isaacs, Professor of Art History and Curator of the Holtzman MFA Gallery at Towson University and Adjunct Curator of the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts.

Awards include $1,000 Best of Show, sponsored by Scott & Company Fine Jewelers. Sponsoring the $750 Second Prize are RE/MAX of Gettysburg agents Suzanne Christianson, Karen Falk, Linda Kane-Taylor and Barb Zimmerman with the $500 Third Prize underwritten by Debra McCauslin and For the Cause Productions. Schmucker Art Gallery sponsors the $100 Director's Award.

Any person over the age of 18 who is a resident of Adams County or an Arts Council member is eligible to submit work. Formats include two and three dimensional art work. A maximum of three pieces may be submitted for juror review with a $25 entry fee. Art in the exhibition may be offered for sale with all proceeds going to the artist. On Friday, June 19, the public is invited to the opening reception, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Schmucker Gallery exhibition hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
