Council announces selections for Juried Exhibit

(5/26) Dr. J. Susan Isaacs, Professor of Art History at Towson University and curator of its Department of Art + Design, Art History, and Art Education galleries and the adjunct curator for the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts in Wilmington, has made her selections, jurying 37 regional artists into the Adams County Arts Council’s 6th Annual Art Exhibition.  The exhibition will be on display from June 19 through July 11 at Schmucker Art Gallery, Gettysburg College, 300 North Washington Street. The exhibition is an official event of the second annual Gettysburg Festival, a ten-day arts celebration featuring more than 100 events throughout the historic town.

Artists whose work will be on exhibit include: William Albanese, Sr., Liliana Arias,  Sharon Birch, David Bottini, Mark Brockman, Erin Brown, Raymond Buchheister, Barbara Clements, Barbara Ebaugh, Audrey Farnsworth, Sue Fehringer, Peter Ferguson, Anne H. Finucane, William F. Fosnaught, Dee Garber, Nanette Hatzes, Kirby Heltebridle, Robyn Jacobs, Caroline Jones, Ethlyn "Bonnie" Lehman, Amy Lindenberger, Lisa Love, Dan Mangan, Casey Martin, Don Moore, Alan Paulson, William F. Polsgrove, Janet Powers, Joh Ricci, Adrian Sauers, Ted Scarpino, Ronald Schloyer, Prudy Smith, Dennis Steinauer, Ruth Sullivan, Bonnie Sydnor and Dora Townsend.  Sixty-eight artists submitted work for consideration.   

The public is invited to attend the opening champagne reception on Friday, June 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with awards ceremony at 6 p.m.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 21, 22, and 28.  Gallery is closed July 3 and 4.   

The artist whose work is chosen as Best of Show will receive a $1,000 award, sponsored by Scott & Company Fine Jewelers, New Oxford.  Sponsoring the $750 Second Prize are Suzanne Christianson, Karen Falk, Linda Kane-Taylor, and Barb Zimmerman of RE/MAX of Gettysburg with the $500 Third Prize underwritten by Debra McCauslin, For the Cause Productions.  Schmucker Art Gallery’s Shannon Egan offers a $100 Director’s Award.  The coordinating committee for the event, chaired by Louise Garverick, includes Judie Butterfield, David Thomas, and Judy Egloff.
