Adams County Arts Council's 10th annual Masquerade Party

Come as you aren't to the Adams County Arts Council's 10th annual Masquerade Party featuring the fabulous Colgan-Hirsh Band with the Slammin' Horns on Saturday, November 7, at 8 p.m. at the Gettysburg Hotel. 'Use Your Illusion' is the 2009 theme. Conga Line Costume Contest judges Kim Alexander of Great Country 107.7 and Gettysburg Times' reporter Scot Pitzer will be handing out cash prizes for the most creative, scariest, sexiest, celebrity look-alike, couple, group theme (3 or more) and best of Party. According to event chair Darlene Brown, "Although it's fun to come in costume, if party-goers prefer another option, formal wear and a mask is fine, too."

Major event sponsors are Just Jennifer Gallery and Framery, Pennsylvania Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, 3rd Idea Advertising and Marketing, L & H Mechanical and Electrical Services, and Battlefield Harley-Davidson.

In an election year, Barack Obama with security detail campaigned in Gettysburg and won a top prize at the Arts Council's 2008 Masquerade Party.

This year's Silent Auction includes an exciting slate of items like original art by award winning local artists including Gretchen Lopez, Nanette Hatzes, Dora Townsend, Erin Brown, Anne Finucane, William Forsberg, Matt Cockburn, and Fredd Polsgrove. Select your own art or jewelry with a gift certificate to the Blue Brick Gallery. Cheer on the Philadelphia Flyers with a pair of tickets to a game. Dine in style with a certificate to the Shepard Mansion, or the Antrim 1844 Smokehouse Restaurant, or a private dinner for 10 prepared by Jennifer LeVan at her house. Stay in shape with a three month family membership to the YWCA or passes to Ski Liberty. Create a memory with a studio portrait sitting and gliceé print by Bert Danielson in his new studio gallery. Enjoy a Gettysburg Hotel overnight package. Prepare for 2010 with tickets to the Majestic Theater's Big Band New Year's Eve extravaganza, or tickets to the Wyndham's New Year's Eve celebration package. Think ahead to the summer with tickets to one of the Gettysburg Festival's lauded events, or the Totem Pole Playhouse.

Mark Purdy of Adams County National Bank will serve as master of ceremonies. Adding to the evening's fun are complementary Tarot readings by well-known local paranormal practitioners like Julie Pelegrino.
