Commissioner George Weikert
 announces reelection bid

(1/20) Adams County Commissioner George A. Weikert has announced his intension to seek a second term on the Adams County Board of Commissioners. George is a lifetime resident of Adams County and Cumberland Township and has served as Chairman County Commissioner since January 2008. Commissioner Weikert serves on the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania Agriculture Committee which works with state elected officials to ensure that agriculture remains a strong and vibrant industry here in Adams County and throughout the State of Pennsylvania.

Commissioner Weikert has formerly served two terms on the Gettysburg Area School Board and thirteen years as a Cumberland Township Supervisor. George is also currently serving as a member of the Land Conservancy of Adams County Board of Directors and serves as the Commissioner Director of the Adams County Conservation District.

Community service has always been a high priority for me and I think my many years of public service have given me the experience necessary to help lead Adams County into the future. County government is very broad and complex which tends to make opportunities frequent and changes sometimes difficult to accomplish. I have worked very hard the past three years to help move the County forward during difficult economic and political times.

I look forward to the opportunities and challenges of the future in County Government. County Commissioner agendas are filled with business that needs to be addressed. Some decisions are popular and easily made and others are more difficult and challenging. Whatever the issue or opportunity I have made those decisions based on good fact finding and what is fair and equitable for the majority of those involved in the process.

I will continue, if reelected, to assure that the time, talents and resources of County Government are being utilized in the most effective and efficient manner.
