Local Christian Store Helps With National Hunger Relief Project

(10/5) Morning Star: A Perfect Gift is celebrating 25 years of Christian ministry with a Grand Opening of their new location at 101 Frederick Road, Thurmont, Maryland, next to the Cozy Country Inn. They are celebrating by participating in the second annual Christian Store Week October 1-10 which is a cooperative effort of U.S. Christian stores and World Vision to alleviate child hunger in the U.S. and around the world. Morning Star: A Perfect Gift is an official Christian Store Week retailer and has planned sales events, drawings and giveaways October 1-10 to support the hunger-relief initiative, including the local food bank. The official Ribbon Cutting for the building which also houses WTHU 1450 "The Source" and TNT TAGS N TITLE is scheduled for Saturday, October 1st. at 9:00 a m.

The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization reports more than half the world’s population lives in low-income, food-deficit countries that are unable to produce or import enough food to feed their people. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates about 10% of America’s population lives in poverty. World vision works in nearly 100 countries and several U.S. urban and rural areas to provide food and other help to impoverished people.

World Vision is one of the World Food Program’s largest non-governmental partners, distributing 830,000 metric tons of food commodities annually. Yet even with this great work, 6 million children die annually because of causes related to malnutrition, and 1 billion people worldwide do not have dependable food supplies. In the U.S., World Vision partners with local pastors, youth workers, teachers, business owners, students, and parents to fight poverty in American neighborhoods.

Morning Star: A Perfect Gift is selling "FEED MY FLOCK", an enhanced CD featuring music and e-books from best-selling artists and authors, to raise awareness and support hunger-relief efforts. Artists and authors have donated royalties from songs and other materials for the project.

Much of the campaign support comes from book and music publishers, including Abingdon Press, Baker Publishing Group, Daywind Music, EMI Christian Music Group, Provident Distribution, Thomas Nelson Publishing, Tyndale House Publishers, Word Entertainment, and Zondervan. Non-product sponsors include Spring Arbor Distribution and Charisma Media.
