Woodsboro Days to return bigger than ever

(7/30) Expanding from one day to two full days of festivities due to soaring popularity, Woodsboro Days annual community festival returns this autumn, October 15 and 16, promising to be a bigger community event than ever before.

In 2020, the town event had to be canceled due to the pandemic. But this year, it continues the comeback trend to be bigger than ever.

The event welcomes the return of Rockwell Brewery and Links Bridge Winery, as well as new comer Rosie Cheeks Distillery joining the mix this year for an inclusive wine and beer garden.

The celebration will kick off with the Woodsboro Historical Society's annual Woodsboro 5K Run/Walk. The race will be held in Regional Park with a course covering a mix of paved and wooded trails with one challenging hill. Participants will receive a race t-shirt with their packet before the start of the race, and free snacks and drinks will be provided.

Online registration for this event can be found on the Woodsboro Historical Society website at www.woodsborohistoricalsociety.org and race day registration will be also be available.

More than twenty vendors will line the community including three food trucks and countless activities for children of all ages.

All tastes and styles of music will be heard October 16, beginning with Truly Unruly, a band that covers popular music of the 1950s through the 1980s. The Forever Young band covers older country and in particular Patsy Cline. Closing out the evening will be the Milton J Band performing 1990s to current cover hits.

A ribbon cutting was held last year for the park’s new permanent band stand, and the town welcomed its first music festival in conjunction with community day. The event was a great success, with several hundred in attendance for the family-friendly day in the park that included outdoor music and an open stage for all ages to showcase their musical talents.

During the weekend, town residents and churches will set up yard sales, and the Woodsboro Historical Society’s museum at the train station will be open to visitors.

Woodsboro Days was started in 2013 with the Woodsboro Historical Society 5K that marked the first time in approximately 25 years that a town wide celebration was held to recognize all things Woodsboro. Based on the success of the initial event, the celebration became an annual event to promote the history of the town.

Over the years, the event quickly expanded into town-wide yard sales, with large food sales at the Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church.

"I welcome everyone to come out and enjoy a nice fall day in the beautiful historic Town of Woodsboro," Burgess Heath Barnes said.

Vendor spaces are still available. More details can be found by reaching Barnes at hbarnes@woodsboro.org or calling 301-401-7164.
