For the month of June, temperatures will be above average with Precipitation also above average.

Weather watch: fair and warm (1) with showers and storms (2,3). Fair and warm (4,5,6) with more showers and storms (7,8,9). Fair and turning very warm (10,11,12) with rain and stormy weather (13,14,15). Hazy, hot and humid (16,17,18,19) with more showers and storms (20,21,22,23,24). Fair, turning very warm (25,26,27,28) with the chance of a tropical storm (29,30).

Tornado watch: there is tornado activity forecasted for the month of June on or about the 2nd and 3rd with more possibly occurring on the 29th and 30th.

Full moon: June's full moon occurs on June 14th at it is sometimes called the strawberry moon because of the many strawberry blossoms that make their appearance during this time. It is also referred to as the full rose moon because roses bloom near the beginning of June.

Special notes: D-day invasion of Europe began on June 6, 1944. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the order adding the words 'Under God' to the pledge of allegiance in June, 1954 and in 1967, president Lyndon B. Johnson nominated Thurgood Marshall to be the first black justice on the united states supreme court on June 12.

Holidays: Flag day is celebrated on Saturday, the 14th so be sure to fly old glory with pride! Do something special for your dad on his day, father's day, which falls on Sunday, June 15th in 2003.

The garden: transplant when rainy season starts. Watch for insects; wash them or pick them off plants before they can lay eggs and multiply. Prune and thin spring-blooming shrubs. Use fungicide where diseases usually are a problem, especially on roses.
