Jack Deatherage

Jack’s lived in, or around, Emmitsburg since 1963. He feels uncomfortable living in Emmitsburg. For most of his life Emmitsburg was the town he visited! The Dispatch was a year old when Jack, who had recently finished a course on writing and needed an excuse to practice, and was into fish big time, began writing "FRESH WATER FISH, THE PET."  Jack’s current contribution to the Dispatch focuses on his love of food, and can be read under "SOMETHING TO EAT."

For fun Jack reads, plants a garden, writes, torments librarians,  attempts to grow houseplants, and tries to cook. He spends what life of his time with his newest passion, a Wunder Banjo! Dispatch fans can look forward to reading about Jack’s exploits as he masters this wonderful instrument.
