Town Manager's Report
April 2008

Streets:

  • Staff  striped Cedar Avenue

  • Staff has repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff installed a speed-bump on Chesapeake Avenue

  • Staff supervised the installation of an island in the center of Silo Hill Road

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now flowing over the spillway and our five wells appear to be recovering well

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff has rebuilt (re-socked) a second DE filter

    Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 329,941 gpd.  We consumed an average of 292,573 gpd   

    Staff has found and repaired two major water leaks.  One in Brookfield and one at the Seton Center, they totaled about 60,000 gpd

     

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(13.1%).   We purchased 30a7,500 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 45.8%      of this water came from wells 

    •  3.1%      of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 51.1%      of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • Staff is continuing to operate the overland flow treatment system

  • We received about 6.7 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.8 inches)

    • We have a surplus of 4.4" of  precipitation over the last six months.  The average precipitation for the period from Nov 1 thru April 30 is 21.5" and we have received 25.9" for that period. 

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 740,000 gpd (consumed 292,573 gpd) which means that 60.5% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".   

    • We experienced no spills of untreated sewerage during the month of Aparil

    • We exceed the plant's design capacity on 7 days during the month of March

    • 04-20  2,845,000 gpd      04-21   1,835,000 gpd,   04-22   899,000gpd  

    • 04-26  1,421,000 gpd,     04-27   1,334,000 gpd    04-28   1,956,000 gpd

    • 04-29  1,013,000 gpd      

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Monday and Thursday for the Month of May, 2008, with the exception of Monday, May 26, 2008 for which there will be no service

Parks:

  • Staff made all standard checks and emptied trash cans

  • Staff applied ballfield mix to the Little League fields in Memorial Park

  • Staff did some painting at the swimming pool

  • Staff removed two stumps and planted two trees (*) in Memorial Park

  • Staff planted ten trees along the modified gravel parking lot in Community Park (near the Babe Ruth Baseball Field)

  • Staff performed standard mowing and trimming
