Mary Virginia Lingg Sanders

Mrs. Mary Virginia Lingg SandersMrs. Mary Virginia Lingg Sanders, 85, of Dry Bridge Road, Emmitsburg, died Friday, Dec. 26, at Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, Pa.

She was the wife of George R. Sanders.

Born May 23, 1918, in Frederick County, she was a daughter of the late George and Sophia Wetzel Lingg.

She was co-owner of Sanders Garage, Emmitsburg, for 35 years. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, Emmitsburg.  She was a member of St. Anthony's Shrine Parish, Emmitsburg, and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

She is survived by one daughter, Alma Topper of Owensboro, Ky.; one son, George Sanders Jr. of Emmitsburg; four grandchildren, Richard Wivell Jr., Scott Wivell, Renae Goff and Lisa Millay; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sophie Lind of Emmitsburg, and Emma Rebert of Fairfield, Pa.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Wivell; one grandson, Brian Topper; three brothers, Russell, Albert and Michael Lingg; and two sisters, Alma Hobbs and Agnes Bohn.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Skiles Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, where the rosary will be held at 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, with a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony's Shrine, Emmitsburg, with the Rev. James Hannon as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, mass offerings are requested.

Bearers will be Richard Wivell Jr., Scott Wivell, Ronnie Millay, David Goff, Michael Lind, and Albert Hobbs.
