Mrs. Pauline Sharrer

Mrs. Pauline Elvina Sharrer, 83, of Thurmont died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at St. Catherine's Nursing Home, Emmitsburg. She was the wife of Marshall V. Sharrer Sr., who died April 29, 1997.

Born Jan. 22, 1921, in Emmitsburg, she was a daughter of the late William Paul and Violet Elvina Wetzel Valentine.

Mrs. Sharrer was a graduate of Emmitsburg High School, class of 1939, and a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge. She helped with the Willing Workers. She was a former member of the Farm Bureau of MD, and a member of the Thurmont Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and was fond of her cat "Georgie" who died one day prior to Mrs. Sharrer. She enjoyed researching her genealogy as well as her many trips to Chincoteague, with her late husband Marshall. She loved to help others and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens in Thurmont. Her lifetime dream was fulfilled when Pauline went to Hollywood in 1999 to see "The Price is Right" show. She loved Bob Barker.

Surviving are seven children, Mary Ann Harbaugh and husband Roscoe, Marshall V. Sharrer Jr. and wife Rose Mary of Conway, S.C., Jeanne Angleberger and husband Carl of Rocky Ridge, Dale L. Sharrer and wife Vicky L. of Thurmont, Robert L. Sharrer and wife Pam of Ocala, Fla., Sharon L. Froelich of Salem, Va. and Paul David Sharrer and wife Bonni of Fairfield, Pa.; 17 grandchildren, Cynthia Hahn and husband Anthony, Pamela Welch, Nancy McMurtrie, Karen Lockrum, Jimmy Harner, Chris Angleberger, Bobby Sharrer, Wayne Sharrer, Jason Harner, Lori Angleberger, Jennifer Hayden, Amy Wood, Lee Travis Sharrer, Elizabeth Ann Sharrer, Paula Jean Sharrer, Katie Trish Sharrer and Daniel Jordan Sharrer; six stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; sister, Elva O'Brien of Fairfield, Pa.; a brother, Frank Valentine and wife Margie of Thurmont; and a sister-in-law, Helen Valentine Kling of Taneytown. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Sharrer; her brother, James P. Valentine; and her brother-in-law, Stanley O'Brien.

Mrs. Sharrer is at the Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, where friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

On Monday, Jan. 24, Mrs. Sharrer will be moved to Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 10043 Longs Mill Road, Rocky Ridge, where she will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. at which time services will begin with her pastor, the Reverend James Russell, officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Tabor Lutheran Cemetery, Rocky Ridge. Bearers will be all grandsons, James M. Harner Jr., Jason M. Harner, K. Wayne Sharrer, Daniel Jordan Sharrer, Chris Wood, Robert S. Sharrer and Chris E. Angleberger.
