Mrs. Anna Louise Shafer

Mrs. Anna Louise Shafer, died on Thursday January 12, 2006 at her home in Shookstown, Md. She was the wife of Mr. Paul D. Shafer of 58 years of marriage.

Born on October 4, 1925 in Emmitsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Anna Dern Grimes. Mrs. Shafer was a graduate of the Frederick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and a member of the Cadet Nurses Corps in 1946. She was additionally a Registered Nurse in the New Born Nursery at the Frederick Memorial Hospital from 1957 to 1987. She was a life long member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Shafer was devoted for many years to the nurses and associates of Frederick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and its alumni. She is also remembered by many special friends and neighbors. Additionally, she is survived by two daughters, Sally A. Haas of Keedysville and Cynthia L. Campbell of Dothan, Alabama; one brother, Charles Frederick Grimes of Emmitsburg; one sister, Betty Grace Weber of Hummelstown, Pa. and two grandsons, James S. and Carlton D. Haas.

She was preceded in death by one son, Steven P. Shafer.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Frederick Church of the Brethren at 201 Fairview Avenue. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday January 16, 2006 from the Frederick Church of the Brethren. The Reverend R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
