Mrs. Elsie A. (Grimes) McKee

Elsie A. McKee, 91, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at her daughter's home in Carlisle.

She was born on Monday, Dec. 28, 1914, in Emmitsburg, Md., and was a daughter of the late Joseph D. Grimes and Harriet C. (Bishop) Grimes. Elsie was widowed from Harold L. McKee, who died Jan. 18, 1982.

She retired from the Servomation Corp. and had also worked at the former Carlisle Shoe Co. for 35 years.

She was a devoted member of the New Hope Church of God in Carlisle and a life member of the Carlisle V.F.W. Post No. 477 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Harriet "Deb" Lightner and Calista J. McKee; six brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by her son, Harold J. McKee of Newburg; two daughters, Marcia A. Calaman of Shippensburg and Vickie R. Miller of Carlisle; her twin sister, Helen L. Wickard of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, in the New Hope Church of God,1250 Waggoners Gap Road, Carlisle, with Pastors Dennis Killinger and Richard Reese officiating. Burial will be in the North Middleton Church of God Cemetery, Carlisle.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.
