Clarence Favorite

Mr. Clarence Favorite, 80, of Thurmont. passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Favorite for 56 years.

Born March 19, 1932 in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late Guy L. and Mae Cook Favorite.

Mr. Favorite proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Carbon Coater for Moore's Business Forms. After retirement he was a caretaker for the American Legion, Thurmont, Post 168 where he was also a lifetime member. Clarence was also a lifetime member of the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club of Smithsburg, MD and the VFW Post 6658 of Emmitsburg, MD. He was also a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

Clarence would distribute candy to St. Catherine's Nursing Home and the VA Center in Martinsburg, WV and was known as the "Candy Man." He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and making homemade wine and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Tony Favorite and wife Ley of Thurmont, Debra Favorite Smith and husband James of Thurmont and Danny Favorite of Thurmont; grandchildren Steven Smith, Ryne Smith, Brittany Smith and Ashley Favorite all of Thurmont; his twin sister Pat Shaw of DE; sister Mary and brothers Bob and Guy, Jr..

He will also be remembered by special friends Pete Lantz, Bud Sweeney, Ed Woods, Lyman Stambaugh and his aquatic swimming class. He was preceded in death by 8 siblings. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
