Faine Marie Rodgers

Faine Marie Rodgers, 89, of Emmitsburg departed this life peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on June 21, 2017. Born July 8, 1927 in McSherrystown,, she was the daughter of the late J. Ray and Stella Agnes (Wolfe) Topper, who preceded her in death in 1942 and 1972. She was the wife of the late William Rodgers, who passed in 1990.

Upon graduation from high school, Faine worked for Dr. W. R. Cadle, the Potomac Edison Company and Cambridge Rubber Company, before going to work as a secretary at Ft. Detrick in Frederick and eventually retiring from there.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Emmitsburg Senior Citizens. She volunteered at the Gettysburg Hospital for many years, Emmitsburg Elementary School, the Archives of the Daughters of Charity from 1998 to 2013, and the Emmitsburg Senior Center from 1992 until the present. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, reading, playing cards, going on bus trips, and working puzzles.

Surviving are 4 daughters, Kathryn Dilbeck and husband Scott of Panama City, FL, Joan Rodgers of Springfield, WV, Bonnie Weatherly and husband Dave of Fairfield, PA, and Lisa Tomlinson and husband Brian of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by her very special friend, Paul Smith. Faine was the last of her immediate family, having been predeceased by 5 brothers, Carroll "Chick", Leo, Raymond "Mick", Walter, and Donald Topper; and sister, Inez Gunn.
